Olympus Magellan 7x50 Marine Binocular
|
We did note however that the diopter scale was slightly inaccurate. This is not unusual in sub $300 binos.
Although we found the optical acuity of the Magellan binoculars to be good, when viewing with eyeglasses they exhibit a significant loss of field of view.
The compass is difficult to see too when wearing eyeglasses.
The strap supplied with the Magellan is identical to the one supplied with some other comparable binoculars and offers plenty of neck padding that doubles as binocular floatation.
The Olympus supplied case is too soft to supply much protection and too small to hold the binoculars and the strap.
Front lens caps attach to the center hinge for security. We found their fit was very tight, making them difficult to remove.
Good optical performance coupled with a reasonable price and a lifetime warranty make the Olympus binos a good choice for boaters.
