Uniden Voyager
|
This Uniden VHF radio ships with a 12 volt DC and AC battery charger.
Eight front-panel pushbuttons control the remaining functions including channel selection, scan, and transmitter power output.
Performance
Voyager performed well in our tests. Receiver sensitivity was a middle of the road 65dB. Our audio testing resulted in average performance too with and audio output of 88dBA.
Battery Life
The battery is an 850 mAH lithium Ion unit with a replacement cost of about $43 and a 12-month warranty.
Battery life on this radio was tested at nine hours, just above the manufacturer’s eight-hour claim, but significantly less than most of the other handheld VHF radios we tested.
The Voyager AC charger will fully recharge a dead or weak battery in just four hours. That's fast.
Final Thoughts
The compact Voyager performed well, but even though it exceeded the manufacturers battery life claim it still has a shorter battery life than the best handheld VHF radios we reviewed.
